I’m glad I wasn’t tempted then by the cachapas. I was nearly lured by the fact that they were double the price (the princely sum of €3.80 each); I had visions of big, juicy, fried Venezuelan pancakes. I would have been gutted!

They usually say that it’s “lloviendo palos” here (and pitchforks, I think), so maybe cabers would be a good way of indicating a particularly heavy chaparon? Oh dear, Marge seriously needs to have a look outside of her comfort zone. Even my mother (soon to be 84) knows what arepas are and likes them. We’ve gone on treks to find them specially too. Cachapas, on the other hand, have the texture of car seat covers, if you ask me. Wise choice.

Good point. The wayward parcel eventually turned up on the 10th January (a month after it had been posted); however, a giveaway stamp on the side showed that it had actually arrived in the Correos office three days earlier. Not as bad as I thought and very good VFM at £36 postage I thought!!
