We are always, always late putting up our Christmas decorations. This year was no different except that this year we toddled off to Portugal shortly after Christmas Day to return on the night when the decs were due to come down again. So we didn’t really have a lot of time to enjoy them.
Instead of leaving them up in the house for 12 months and risking bad luck, I thought I’d post some pics on here, so I can enjoy the house dressed for Christmas for just a little bit longer.

Oh the bad luck thing doesn’t apply out there. It couldn’t otherwise you’d be taking decorations down on 12th Night before Los Reyes had officially delivered the gifts after midnight into the 6th. You can leave decorations up until February 1st, taking them down in time for Candlemas on the 2nd. That was the tradition in Britain too in the past: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presentation_of_Jesus_at_the_Temple#Traditions_and_superstitions
Damn. Wish we’d known that…would have left them up for a bit longer
Mind you, we should have known. You know what it’s like here – take down the Christmas decs so they can put the carnaval ones up.
Yeah, it’s not really laziness on their part, they’re just following the *proper* tradition. That’s my excuse too for why my Christmas tree is still up. It’s nothing to do with not having the energy or the motivation to disassemble the bloody thing!
Lovely decorations. Lovely photos.
